The Hanover Square Historic District in Horseheads holds a collection of historic storefronts, and within that is the Horseheads Masonic Temple. Originally completed in 1868 with subsequent additions in 1932 and 1985, the main building has historically housed the Masonic Temple and later dance studios that were all in use until its recent renovation.

Now, the building is undergoing facade restoration to bring the storefront back to its original appearance, where the interior houses four new apartments along with updated spaces for the Masons' continued use. Along with these new spaces, accessibility and fire safety concerns have been addressed with a new elevator and stair. All additions and new design have been in accordance with SHPO and NPS standards for use of historic tax credits.
