Centertown Social offered our team the opportunity to help bring a new kind of energy to downtown Elmira. While our work with Capriotti Properties often focuses on the rehabilitation and reuse of historic buildings, this project allowed our team to apply our broader design experience to a contemporary hospitality and entertainment venue.
Located beneath the parking garage at Clemens Square, the project presented a unique challenge: transforming an unconventional below-grade space into an inviting restaurant, bar, and social destination. Working closely with Capriotti Properties, interior design consultant Todd Yoggy, kitchen designers, specialty consultants, and a local mural artist, the design team developed a space that is playful, durable, and highly functional. Careful attention was given to circulation, lighting, acoustics, material selection, kitchen and bar coordination, and the overall guest experience.
Supported in part by Downtown Revitalization Initiative funding, the completed project contributes to the continued revitalization of downtown Elmira. With a full restaurant and bar, gaming areas, flexible gathering spaces, and a lively indoor-outdoor atmosphere, Centertown Social creates a new destination for dining, entertainment, events, and community connection in the heart of the city.
